On Friday, August 21st, E911 was notified by an individual that they'd located what they believed to be human bones in a wooded area off Ashley Park Blvd in Newnan. Units with the Newnan Police Department were dispatched to the location where they met the reporting party and were taken to what the bones that were located in what is described in the report as a "campsite".
On Tuesday, August 18th, a Newnan Police Department unit was dispatched to 555 Bullsboro Dr, Target, after E911 was contacted by Target staff regarding an incident of public indecency.
MONDAY, AUGUST 17, 2026
Just before 4:30 PM on Saturday, August 15th, E911 started receiving calls regarding an armed robbery in progress at the Firehouse Subs in Ashley Park. Units from multiple law enforcement agencies descended on area as witnesses relayed the position of the now fleeing suspects. After running from the scene and crossing over the bypass, the suspects were finally caught and arrested in the parking lot area behind Urban Air / Target.

Former Coweta County Sheriff's Office ( CCSO ) Deputy and Smokey Road Middle School SRO Michael McGuffey was indicted on 5 counts of CSA related charges by a Coweta County Grand Jury on August 11th, 2026. On August 13th, McGuffey turned himself into the Coweta County Jail on an arrest warrant issued that same day by the court.
