FBI Arrests Newnan Couple for Millions in Covid Fraud

Tampa, Florida – United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announces the indictment and arrests of Earlisha Louis (44, Newnan, Georgia) and Somoza Louis (44, Newnan, Georgia) for one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud related to COVID-19 relief funds. If convicted, each faces up to 30 years in federal prison on each count. Earlisha Louis is also charged with two counts of illegal monetary transactions. Each of those counts carry a maximum penalty of 3 years in federal prison. The indictment also notifies the pair that the United States intends to forfeit a residence and $1,705,553.80, which are alleged to be traceable to the proceeds of the offense.
17 Year Old Arrested for DUI with Open Containers in Vehicle

Booking records indicate that the Georgia State Patrol arrested 17 year old Ava Joy Johnson on June 11th after a Trooper witnessed Johnson fail to maintain lane, leading to a DUI investigation.
Eight Children Present in Vehicles During DUI Arrests Last Week

From June 9th through June 13th, four DUI suspects were arrested with children present in their vehicles. The suspects received additional serious charges including serious injury by vehicle and hit and run.
Woman Shopping at Publix Robbed of Wallet While Shopping, Two Atlanta Men Arrested

On May 30th, 2025, at around 11:30 AM, a local woman was shopping at the Publix Grocery Store at 1111 Lower Fayetteville Rd in Newnan. By the end of her shopping trip she would notice that her wallet was missing from her purse and requested that Publix staff review surveillance video after reporting having had a strange interaction with at least one male while shopping.
Fugitive from Auburn Alabama Stabbing Located and Arrested in Coweta County

Just after 10 PM last night, Coweta County E911 received a BOLO from the Auburn Police Department in Alabama regarding a suspect vehicle and suspect believed to be traveling north on I-85 after a reported stabbing.
The BOLO was relayed to units of all local law enforcement agencies and a short time later a patrol deputy with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office informed dispatch that he’d located the vehicle at the BP Gas Station on South Highway 29 / Exit 41. As the deputy waited for additional units to make it to the area, the suspect vehicle exited the BP parking lot taking a left onto South Hwy 29 at a very low speed. The suspect then took a right onto East Highway 16 and began heading east, again at a very low rate of speed.
Drunkard Takes CCSO on 120 MPH Pursuit with Children in Vehicle

Just after midnight on May 7th, 2025, a deputy with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office was traveling north on Interstate 85 near the 46 mile marker when they observed a white Lexus change lanes before accelerating to a speed in excess of 100 miles per hour at which time the deputy activated their lights and attempted to stop the vehicle.
Multiple NHS Students Arrested After Fight, One Found With Weapon

According to the NPD case report on May 1st, 2025 around 10 AM, SRO’s assigned to Newnan High School were notified over the school radio that the school staff had a ” situation in the 100 hallway. ” When they arrived to the location they observed the victim, an unidentified black female who was extremely frantic and upset. An officer noted portions of the victims hair on the floor and that she had broken nails and a swollen hand. She stated to officers that she was jumped in the stairs and hadn’t done anything wrong, they just jumped her.
Local Man Faces Federal Child Exploitation Charges

On April 30th, 2025, Larry Nelson Gasaway, of Newnan, was arrested by Federal Authorities after an investigation regarding illegal sexual content of a minor found on his phone by Custom and Border Protection while re-entering the country. The April 13th, 2025 search as Gasaway returned to the country in Miami, FL discovered videos containing illegal videos of a minor taken with a hidden video camera, allegedly placed by Gasaway. Homeland Security Investigations Atlanta preformed a search of the victim’s house, locating hidden cameras and additional evidence that lead to Gasaway’s arrest.
Six Arrested in Wake of Snowfinch Lane Shooting

Just before 9 PM on April 25th, 2025, E911 received a call from a residence on Snowfinch Lane in Newnan reporting that a male victim had been shot.
Units with both the Newnan Police Department, as well as nearby units with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office quickly responded to the scene. Dispatch had been able to confirm with the caller that there were numerous people located within the residence and at least one was armed. When units arrived they came in contact with a male outside of the house who was detained. Units then secured the house, calling all the individuals out of the house where they were then detained.
Charges Dropped Against Fulford, Investigation On-going

On Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, Investigators with the Criminal Investigation Unit were made aware of new information provided to the Coweta County District Attorney’s Office. This new information resulted in the District Attorney’s Office’s decision not to proceed with the prosecution of Ms. Fulford. Investigators then contacted the Magistrate Judge who signed the warrants and requested that the warrants be recalled.
