CCSO Provides Update on Herring Rd Home Invasion

The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office has provided an update on the August 5th home invasion of a residence off Herring Rd. Body Worn Camera footage provided by the CCSO shows the suspect, Walter David Ruffin, 43, of Moreland, armed with a knife as he attempts to block deputies from entering a bedroom he was located in. After failing to follow commands given by deputies they breeched the room from inside the house and an exterior window using pepper balls and multiple taser cartridges that forced Ruffin to drop the knife allowing deputies to take him into custody.

In the early hours of August 5, 2025, Coweta County E911 received a call from a resident near Herring Rd and Beasley St reporting intruders in his home; he had barricaded himself in his bedroom. Deputies responded swiftly, extracted the victim safely, and searched the house. They encountered a locked door, forced entry, and subdued the suspect using pepper balls and a taser. EMS treated the suspect, CCFR ventilated the premises, and evidence confirmed forced entry.

Suspect Takes CCSO on Pursuit Through Downtown Newnan

On July 8, 2025, a suspect led the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) on a high-speed pursuit through downtown Newnan, Georgia. The chase began when deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver refused to comply and fled. The pursuit moved through several streets, with the suspect driving recklessly, endangering public safety. It ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed near the intersection of East Broad Street and Perry Street. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by deputies. No injuries were reported, and the suspect faces multiple charges, including fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, and other traffic-related offenses.

FBI Arrests Newnan Couple for Millions in Covid Fraud

Tampa, Florida – United States Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe announces the indictment and arrests of Earlisha Louis (44, Newnan, Georgia) and Somoza Louis (44, Newnan, Georgia) for one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud related to COVID-19 relief funds. If convicted, each faces up to 30 years in federal prison on each count. Earlisha Louis is also charged with two counts of illegal monetary transactions. Each of those counts carry a maximum penalty of 3 years in federal prison. The indictment also notifies the pair that the United States intends to forfeit a residence and $1,705,553.80, which are alleged to be traceable to the proceeds of the offense.

According to the NPD case report on May 1st, 2025 around 10 AM, SRO’s assigned to Newnan High School were notified over the school radio that the school staff had a ” situation in the 100 hallway. ” When they arrived to the location they observed the victim, an unidentified black female who was extremely frantic and upset. An officer noted portions of the victims hair on the floor and that she had broken nails and a swollen hand. She stated to officers that she was jumped in the stairs and hadn’t done anything wrong, they just jumped her.
