Teachers alert SRO when they notice things out of place

According to the incident report, on the morning of Monday, September 22nd, several teachers notified the school’s SRO that they’d returned to their classrooms that morning to find things had been disturbed, draws rifled through and items moved around. They also reported that the message ” Fuck You ” had been written on a white board and that they’d located a nurse pass form that had been filled out with vulgar language.

Most telling, under the ” Student Name ” section of the form, the subjects had written ” Jada Waters. “

The SRO documented the evidence and assured the teachers he would watch the security footage and identify anyone that had entered the classrooms.

The security footage showed that on Sunday, September 21st, at 12:19 AM, three unidentified individuals are see on a camera covering the back driveway as they approach the rear of the 500 building before exiting the view of the camera. Though the camera quality was limited, the group seemed to be comprised of 2 females and 1 male, white, all wearing dark clothing.

Around 7 minutes later, at 12:26 AM, motion sensors were activated that illuminated lighting in the hallway and a female can be observed exiting a classroom while seated in an officer chair which is being pushed by a male. The other female followed closely behind the pair. The trio can then be seen proceeding down the hallway as they enter multiple classrooms and storage rooms. The SRO was able to confirm the classroom they were initially observed exiting belonged to one of the reporting parties. The SRO was able to capture a still image of the three suspects. They SRO shared the image with one of the victims.

The victim quickly identified one of the females as ” Jada Waters. “

A second victim was able to identify the male as Hurley Varenas and the second female as his juvenile sister. Continued observation of the video shows the trio entering several classrooms before coming to a door that was apparently locked. When faced with the locked door, the video apparently shows Varenas return to a different classroom before returning with a pair of scissors with which he attempts, without success, to force entry, damaging the latch.

After spending more time wandering the hallway they are observed returning to the room they initially exited causing the motion sensors to activate. Finally at 1:14 AM, the trio is observed again on the outside camera as they exit the school and walk towards the rear driveway loop. They are then seen entering what is described as a dark in color extended cab pickup truck and leaving the school campus.

The SRO then contacted the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Once they responded he briefed them on what he’d learned regarding the incident for further investigation.
