Several Previous Incidents

Large Fight in the area the previous day

The previous day, September 8th, 2025 at around 6:15 PM, units with the Newnan Police Department responded to the area of Paul Street after multiple callers reported to E911 that there was a large group actively fighting and that ” several kids have weapons.”

Units arrived shortly after being dispatched with the group dispersing and no one wanting to provide any information with which officers could act upon. After covering the area to ensure there was no further dispute occurring, they returned to service.

Threatening Instagram Video leads to Arrest the week before

On August 27th, 2025, NPD units were dispatched to the area of Johnson Ave regarding a report of threats. When they arrived they spoke with two witnesses that provided them with an Instagram video that had been sent to then. The video showed two people making threats towards their mother and a friend that lived off Hill Street. They identified both of the individuals in the video, one of which was Kaylee Johnson who they stated lived on Paul Street.

Officers noted the following regarding the video in the incident report. The video was filmed by a female, later identified as Kaylee Johnson. She was holding the cell phone in one hand and a black handgun in the other. Johnson was joined by a light-skinned male who also had a handgun in their hand. Johnson can be heard making threatening statements, including ” I will shoot your momma’s window right now ” while tapping the gun on the glass of a vehicle and pointing it, with her finger on the trigger, at a home located on Hill Street. The unidentified male in the video can be seen doing generally the same thing.

NPD units relocated to the residence on Hill Street where they spoke to a number of victims that stated they were inside the house when the video was made and wished to press charges. One of the victims informed officers that there was a long history of issues between their friend group and Johnson’s friend group and that the threats were directed at her but sent to her friends due to her having Johnson blocked on Instagram.

Officers went to Johnson’s residence on Paul Street and after a long period of knocking she came to the door and she was placed under arrest and placed in Handcuff. A juvenile that responded to the door was detained. Both Johnson and the juvenile, whose parents were present, were read their Miranda rights.

During questioning, Johnson stated that she and two juveniles had gone to Johnson Ave. together with ” fake guns to act like they were going to do something, ” however she insisted that the firearms were BB guns.

The juvenile that had been detained denied any involvment in the incident and stated he was at another location. Due to officers not being to connect him to the incident he was released. The second juvenile named by Johnson was questioned as well and also denied any involvement. Johnson was taken to the Coweta County Jail and booked on multiple charges.
