Update – July 27th – Coweta County Booking information has been added at the bottom of the article.

Community Members Report Sighting, Interaction

Just after 6:45 PM,  July, 26th, 2025, Coweta County E911 received a call from a resident in the area of Potts Rd and Rolling Hills Ln reporting they’d just seen a black male matching the description of Sacario Tremaine Hill, 20, the suspect sought in a multi-day Manhunt that had seen heavy police presence in the area.

Within minutes E911 received a second call from a resident in the 1000 block of Rolling Hills Ln reporting there was a black male hiding in a vehicle on his property.

Units from multiple law enforcement agencies began descending on the area with a quick operation to secure a perimeter around the possible location enacted to ensure Hill couldn’t again escape capture by running as they approached. While units quickly moved to their places on the perimeter, units contacted the callers to obtain as much information as possible.

With units in place units approached the area where Hill was reported to be hiding. While the CCSO didn’t provide any details of the apprehension in it’s update on it’s Facebook Page, the resident told family that Hill exited a vehicle and yelled ” you ain’t gonna catch me! ” before attempting to run again.

Members of the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, aided by K9 Kilo, took the challenge and ensured Hill got a new pair of handcuffs for his troubles.

Sacario Tremaine Hill, 20, of Phenix City, AL, has been transported to the Coweta County Jail where he will be booked on multiple charges.

Resident Unaware of Manhunt for Suspect Hiding Behind Residence

Shortly after the second E911 call I was contacted by multiple family members of the gentleman whose residence Hill was hiding on. The information below comes from those conversations and are shared with permission. I won’t be sharing their names for privacy. I’d like to thank them for reaching out and allowing me to share their story.

According to the resident’s family he’d been completely unaware of the manhunt occurring in the area over the last several days and their attempts to contact him over the past few days had been thwarted by his dead phone battery.

When his granddaughter finally got through this evening to invite him to dinner he began describing a interaction with an unknown male at his house earlier. Once he began providing a description of the male the granddaughter recognized that it matched the description given for the manhunt suspect and told him to call 911 immediately.

The interaction apparently involved Hill coming to the back door of his residence before retreating and running back towards a number of non-running vehicles located behind the residence at the wood line. The family confirmed that in addition to vehicles there’s a small shed behind his residence.

According to what the resident told the family members, when he got a chance to look into the trucks at least one showed signs of Hill being in it with the seats being laid down – leading them to believe Hill may have been there long enough to sleep at least one night in the vehicle, and apparently at least one half of the handcuffs that Hill was wearing when he escaped custody.

He also told the family that when officers approached the back yard of the residence Hill exited from a vehicle that he’d hidden in before yelling ” you ain’t gonna catch me! ” and attempting to run again.

The Suspect, Sacario Tremaine Hill

The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect in a Facebook Post on Friday, July 25th, as Sacario Hill, 20, of the Columbus / Phenix City, AL area.

The update also stated that Hill had active arrests warrants out of Columbus PD for 6 Counts of Aggravated Assault as well as Possession of a Firearm during a Crime. These are on top of the charges in the open case below.

According to Muscogee County Superior Court Records, Hill was arrested in March of this year on the following charges:

  • Battery (M)
  • Criminal Trespass (M)
  • Aggravated Assault (F)

While he was arrested in March of this year, case proceedings show that the charges stem from an incident that occurred in June of 2024.

Court records additionally show that Hill was able to post $11,250.00 using Freedom Bonding in Columbus. This bond is still active.

The Escape, and Manhunt

Details regarding the initial contact between the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) and Hill are thin as CSU operations occur on encrypted radio channels and most if not all records created by the unit are exempt from open records request.

What is known is that around 5 PM on Thursday, July 24th, 2025, units with CSU made contact with Hill in whats believed to have been a traffic stop. This occurred in the 1300 block of South Hwy 29, generally right in front of the Dollar General on Pine Rd.

During this contact hill was at least detained during their roadside investigation. At some point Hill, who had been handcuffed, was able to run from the stop on foot heading southwest across Pine Rd and into the woods. Dispatch audio shows that patrol units, county K9’s, and multiple drone teams were requested to respond in support of the immediate search for Hill.

Initial search efforts focused in the area west of Highway 29 South, south of the fairgrounds and west towards Hickory Hills Dr and Hunters Ln. This would expand west and south towards Potts Rd, Emmett Young Rd and south towards the Talaria Farms area.

We’d find out later that Hill had been caught on camera in the area of Potts Rd and Emmett Young Rd. Within an hour from the escape, even the rarely used CCSO Helicopter was brought to bear on the search.

Around 8 PM on Thursday, July 24th, the CCSO posted a BOLO regarding the Manhunt on their Facebook Page providing a still image from the camera Hill was caught on the prior evening. The BOLO placed Hill’s last sighting in the area of Potts Rd and Emmett Young Rd and described his as Armed and Dangerous. The image shows Hill, still cuffed with his hands in front of him, running through the area. It’s unknown if Hill was originally cuffed with his hands in front of him or if he somehow managed to move his hands to the front after his escape began.

A multitude of units continued to actively search the area which had grown to include nearly 7 square miles, throughout the night, with what seemed to be a heavy focus on the bright lights of South Highway 29 and the area around Exit 41.

Overnight, CCSO units patrolling the area would make contact with Hill’s mother in the parking lot behind Waffle House. Law enforcement worked to ensure she wouldn’t be a successful source of escape for the suspect.

Just after 6:30 AM on Friday, July 25th, the CCSO again updated their BOLO post stating they were still actively searching the area for Hill. This was followed with a second update just after 11 AM that identified Hill as the suspect and provided both information on the warrants for which he was wanted and a recent booking photo from Muscogee County. It also confirmed they were still searching the area around Potts Rd.

Around 3:30 PM the CCSO stated in a comment on their BOLO post that they had credible information to believe that Hill was no longer in the county and that the search had been called of in the local area. This was confirmed again in a 10 PM update to the BOLO post stating that ” Deputies have reason to believe this suspect is no longer in our county.”

What’s Next

As of the publishing of this article, Hill is still completing the booking process at the Coweta County Jail. Once this booking has completed we’ll be able to see, and I’ll update with, the charges he will face in Coweta County regarding his escape and eluding. He’ll have to face his arraignment on these charges before its decided between Coweta and Muscogee which charges he will face first.

When he does make it to Muscogee County he will be booked on the charges contained in the warrants ( At least 6 counts of Agg Assault and Poss. of a Firearm ) and it’s likely to assume that his current bond for his already open case will be revoked.

Given his attempt to escape, the fact he apparently committed the crimes charged in the outstanding warrants, all while out on bond for additional felony charges, it’s safe to assume he’ll be staying in jail until his cases are resolved. That is of course if the Superior Courts can indict him and work the cases in a reasonable amount of time.

Check back on this page and the Facebook Page where I’ll post additional updates as they become available.
